The German Football Federation has punished Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface for anti-sporting behavior with a one-match suspension, according to The Pageng.
For the offense, the Nigerian international was additionally fined €25,000.
The decision was made on Wednesday by the DFB.
When the DFL Super Cup game’s final whistle blew last Saturday, Boniface rushed past the players of VFB Stuttgart, giving them the finger.
Now, a German Cup encounter will be missed by the forward.
Referee Tobias Stieler claimed that because he was not there for the event, the disciplinary committee was required to look into it and file charges after the fact.
Since the player and his club have accepted the decision, it is enforceable.
