APC non-aligned movement calls for caution within the rank and file of All Progressive Congress members in Oyo state
In a statement sent out on Sunday afternoon it was stated that “We are taken aback by the claims and counterclaims of some individuals and groups who are loyal to various contenders vying for positions in the 2027 elections, particularly the gubernatorial position, which is the pinnacle of subnational elections”.
“We observed that these claims are very far from the truth; it is important to note that this is serving as a great danger for our party. It will not be in the interest of our great party if we fold our arms and continue watching the events continue.
We have decided to come and serve notes of warning to members of our party and reawaken the leadership of the party for its primary role”.
“Loyal members of our party would recall that warnings were sounded in the build-up to the 2023 elections, when some people thought they had seized the party by the jugular for their selfish interests, and the resultant effect is for all to see today, it will not be too good for us to make same mistake again”.
“We are concerned about the different dimensions of the current divisive methods being employed now, and we are scolding those concerns to tread softly before the situation gets out of control”.
“The party as a team should be all-inclusive, and where it’s reduced to a man show, it becomes a group, and elections are won by the larger majority in any given context”.
“It is noted that the wicked individuals that are behind the press releases set out to destroy the party once more, similar to the manner of operations of a mole in an organization”.
‘What is more worrisome is the fact that they do not only drop the names of the party first eleven in your state, but also the president. We are yet to understand where their dastardly act will lead them to”.
“The 2027 elections are fast approaching as we are yet to reach the second stanza of the current administration, and any serious-minded politician should assist his or her party to strategies and organize to deliver largely the promises highlighted during the electioneering campaigns. The busybodies who are now turning themselves to selection team be warned of the consequences of such undertaking without the order from the national body of our party”.
“We have critically analyzed the remote and immediate cause of the party’s scandalous loss in the 2023 gubernatorial elections.
The results of our findings are jealously guarded by our organization, which we are ready to release to both the national and state leadership upon request.
We are, as a matter of fact, working round the clock to prevent a reoccurrence of such an ugly situation, and one of such exercises is today’s release on the sudden lackadaisical behaviour of some aggrieved members of our party”.
“We sincerely hope that our leadership in the state will urgently call on members to be calm and that the sterling performance of Mr. President and his team in restoring the hope agenda noted globally to rub off on the people”.
“Our party, among other things, liberated the third tier administration via the much talked about local government autonomy”.
“The world-class infrastructure delivery in the six geopolitical zones.
The removal of fuel subsidy, although it came with its pains, but the goods associated with it can be overemphasized”.
” This is a monster that almost pushed our country into oblivion. This has led to homogenous monthly allocations from the federal but our state governors are not doing well with it. This ought to have raised the standard of living of the masses, and Oyo state is not an exception.”
“We seize this opportunity to call on Gov Seyi Makinde to work more on how to better the lots of the people of our state using judiciously the fantastic allocations the state has been given since June 2023”.
“Among other measures to be taken in addressing the issues militating against the progress of our party, leadership should issue a very strong warning to those trying to drag its good name in the dirty political waters”.
