Delta State Governor Oborevwori has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing long-term development and stakeholder consultations.
The announcement came after a high-level, closed-door meeting held at the Government House in Asaba, the state capital, on Wednesday, April 23, 2024.
Governor Oborevwori, who won the 2023 gubernatorial election under the PDP platform, was received by top APC chieftains in what is now being described as a strategic political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, unverified reports claimed that Oborevwori’s predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa has concluded plan to dump the party.
In a video circulatinng online, Okowa, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP in the 2023 Presidential Election informed his constituents that they are moving away from PDP.
“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction; we will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” he said.
