In a historic move, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved the allocation of plots of land to the victorious players and officials of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) who won the Nigeria Premier League and WAFU Cup in 1998. This long-awaited reward was initially promised by the state’s military administrator, Compol Amen Oyakhire, 26 years ago.
The beneficiaries include 25 players and officials who made history for Oyo State and Nigeria. Governor Makinde’s approval brings joy and relief to the team, who have been waiting for over two decades for this recognition.
This development showcases Governor Makinde’s commitment to redressing past injustices and rewarding merit. The allocation of land is expected to be implemented soon, with the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to be issued by the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development.
