A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, has openly admitted that the nomination of Akinremi “Murphy” as the party’s candidate for the August 16 bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency was flawed.
In a Facebook post made on Saturday, Repete wrote:
“APC National said it is Murphy, Oyo State APC accepted it, INEC also published the final lists. Yes, the process was faulty, but it is about the party. August 16, vote Murphy, vote APC. Ire o.”
His comment comes amid growing questions over how Murphy’s name appeared on INEC’s final list of candidates, even after the commission earlier confirmed that no valid APC primary election was monitored in the constituency.
INEC had earlier disclosed that only the PDP conducted a valid primary for the bye-election, yet the APC’s Murphy was listed alongside PDP candidate Fola Oyekunle on the published list.
The Ibadan North bye-election is scheduled to hold on August 16, 2025, following the death of the late Hon. Musiliudeen Akinremi.
