Just days after the controversy involving Fuji singer K1 De Ultimate, another incident has rocked the Murtala Muhammed International Airport as a female passenger allegedly assaulted a flight attendant aboard an Ibom Air flight.
The disturbance reportedly occurred on Sunday, August 11, 2025, shortly after the flight landed in Lagos from Uyo.
Multiple videos of the incident, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @OHOgunbiyi, show the visibly agitated woman in a white top and black trousers shouting at airport officials and engaging in a heated confrontation. Eyewitnesses claimed she slapped one of the cabin crew members during the altercation.
Attempts by airport security and officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to calm the situation were initially unsuccessful until airport police intervened to de-escalate tensions.
Reacting to the incident, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), said the altercation stemmed from the passenger’s refusal to comply with cabin crew instructions.
“Passengers need to understand they have responsibilities, not just rights,” Achimugu wrote on X. “When cabin crew ask you to turn off your phone before takeoff or landing, simply comply.”
He added that the NCAA will release further updates following a full investigation.
This latest incident adds to growing concerns about unruly behavior among air travelers. It follows closely on the heels of a six-month flight ban imposed on musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1) over alleged in-flight misconduct.
