Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, will be absent from the coronation ceremony of Senator Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, a source close to the governor has confirmed.
According to the source, who wished to remain anonymous, the governor’s absence is due to a month-long vacation in the United States.
As previously reported, Governor Makinde formally handed over power to his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal, who will serve as Acting Governor from August 29 to September 29, 2025. In Makinde’s absence, Lawal will represent the governor at the coronation ceremony and present the staff of office to Ladoja on his behalf.
Despite Governor Makinde’s absence, the coronation ceremony of Senator Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland is expected to proceed as planned. With Barrister Bayo Lawal representing the governor, the event is set to be a significant milestone in the history of Ibadanland.
