In a significant move to make the Hajj pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerian Muslims, President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to immediately reduce the cost of the 2026 Hajj fares.
According to Senator Ibrahim Hadeija, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, the new fare structure is expected to be announced within the next two days.
The directive was made during a meeting with NAHCON officials at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the need for collaboration among federal and state officials to ensure a harmonized and affordable fare structure.

- Expected Fares: ₦7.6 million to ₦7.7 million
The decision is aimed at passing the benefits of the naira’s appreciation to prospective pilgrims. NAHCON Secretary, Dr. Mustapha Mohammad, welcomed the directive, stating it would increase the number of intending pilgrims in 2026 .
