Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has thrown his hat into the ring for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Lamido announced his intention to contest for the position on Monday, October 27, 2025, and is expected to pick up his nomination form at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Lamido’s decision comes amid controversy over the reported “consensus” adoption of former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, as the party’s northern choice. Some North-West chapters of the PDP have rejected Turaki’s endorsement, describing the process as unfair and imposed .
The PDP’s national elective convention is scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, where delegates will decide the party’s next national leadership .
