The ancient city of Ibadan came alive as over 25,000 young people from across Nigeria gathered to attend the much-anticipated Davido’s 5ive Tour concert held over the weekend.
The event, which took place at the expansive Obafemi Awolowo stadium Ibadan, drew a massive crowd of music lovers, creatives, and influencers who came to witness Afrobeats superstar Davido deliver an electrifying performance alongside other top acts.
Organizers described the turnout as a testament to Davido’s national appeal and the cultural influence of Afrobeats on Nigerian youth. The concert was one of the biggest music gatherings Ibadan has hosted in recent times.
In a statement, one of the organizers said, “The goal of the 5ive Tour is to bring music closer to the fans while creating a safe and inclusive environment for young people to celebrate their passion. Seeing over 25,000 young Nigerians come together peacefully is a major success.”
Security was tight at the venue, with over 2,000 personnel drawn from the police, DSS, Nigerian Army, Amotekun, NSCDC, and private outfits ensuring order throughout the event.
Beyond music, the event also featured pop-up vendors, tech showcases, and youth empowerment segments, positioning the tour as more than just entertainment but a cultural movement.
Davido, visibly moved by the overwhelming love, thanked the Ibadan crowd, promising to return with more impact-driven initiatives and performances.
The 5ive Tour continues to other cities in the coming weeks, with hopes of building on the momentum from Ibadan.
