Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has publicly dissociated himself from any attempts to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing that such a move is not in the best interest of the party.
In a statement released on Saturday evening and obtained by our correspondent on his X timeline, Governor Fintiri stressed his commitment to peace and stability within the PDP, warning that actions aimed at expelling members could further deepen the crisis rocking the party.
“I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, @GovWike, from @OfficialPDPNig (PDP). I believe that this decision is not in the best interest of the party, and I will not be party to any attempt that could further plunge the PDP into unending crisis,” the governor said.
Governor Fintiri reiterated his stance as a faithful member of the PDP, calling on all stakeholders to prioritize reconciliation and unity rather than divisive actions.
“I urge all stakeholders to work towards healing the divisions within the party and to strive for unity and cohesion. As a party man, I am committed to supporting efforts that promote peace, stability, and progress within the PDP,” he added.
The governor’s position comes amid growing internal tensions in the party following renewed calls by some factions for disciplinary action against Wike over his perceived disloyalty and public criticisms of party leadership.
Fintiri concluded by stating that his views are guided by a desire for peace and reconciliation, promising to continue contributing to efforts aimed at restoring unity within the party.
