Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has lashed out at former President Olusegun Obasanjo, just 48 hours after appearing to bury their long-standing political hatchet.
Obasanjo had attended Fayose’s 65th birthday party in Lagos, where he made some pointed remarks about Fayose’s past criticisms, but claimed to have forgiven him.
However, Fayose has now hit back, describing Obasanjo’s comments as “irresponsible” and accusing him of losing his sanity.
In a statement, Fayose said: “You went so low, but I’m not surprised because someone once said you are supposed to be kept away in the zoo. Sincerely, that’s where you belong.”
The feud between the two dates back to 2006, when Fayose was removed from office as governor, a move he believed was orchestrated by Obasanjo.
The Supreme Court later declared Fayose’s removal illegal, but he had already completed his term.
Fayose has previously attacked Obasanjo, once demanding a refund of N10 million he donated to Obasanjo’s presidential library project in 2005.
