Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has announced a crucial adjustment to the ongoing Ibadan Circular Road Project, particularly the section passing through Ido Local Government.
In a move aimed at addressing the concerns of the densely populated Ologuneru community, the governor revealed that the road project will now be restricted to a 150-metre corridor in the affected area.
This decision, he noted, was reached after careful consultation with stakeholders and a thorough review of the community’s structure and population density.
Governor Makinde explained that while the project is crucial for the state’s infrastructure and economic expansion, it must not come at the cost of displacing large numbers of residents unnecessarily.
The Circular Road, designed to ease traffic congestion and open up new economic corridors around Ibadan, has drawn both praise and protest — particularly from residents affected by the proposed 500-metre setback in certain areas.
With this new resolution, the government hopes to strike a balance between development and social responsibility.
