The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has officially debunked widespread rumours circulating on social media about the death of Yoruba film legend, Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR), popularly known as Baba Eda Onile Ola.
In a statement released by the ANTP’s National PRO, Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, the association confirmed that Chief Paimo is alive, healthy, and in good condition.
The clarification follows viral posts on Facebook falsely claiming the passing of the veteran actor.
“We have spoken directly with Baba Eda’s wife, and she has confirmed that he is alive and doing well. The public should disregard these fake and malicious reports,” the statement read.
Chief Olalere Paimo, who serves as the Chairman, Board of Trustees of ANTP, remains an iconic figure in Nigeria’s cultural and entertainment space, with decades of contributions to theatre and film.
The ANTP strongly condemned the spread of misinformation and urged the public to verify sensitive news before sharing, especially regarding the wellbeing of public figures.
