In a dramatic turn of events, 16 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection, confirmed on Friday morning, marks a significant shake-up in the state’s political landscape and is seen as a major blow to the PDP amid ongoing tensions within the party ranks.
The lawmakers, who are believed to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, cited internal party issues and leadership concerns as part of their reason for leaving the PDP.
This development deepens the crisis in Rivers State politics and signals a widening rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the pro-Wike bloc.
