In a bid to reposition Ibadan as Nigeria’s go-to cultural and entertainment destination during the festive season, the Oyo State Government has partnered with Amaland Festival to host a month-long celebration tagged “Faaji December.”
The highlight of the celebration is the Amaland Festival, scheduled for December 19 and 20, 2025, at the Ibadan Recreation Club Grounds. This event is designed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Ibadan and attract visitors from across Nigeria, West Africa, and the diaspora.
Speaking on the event, Seun Adeniyi, convener of the festival, described Faaji December as a revival of Ibadan’s cultural pride. “Ibadan is the original home of enjoyment, culture, and urban lifestyle. It’s where amala and Fuji music were born. We’re bringing it all back,” he said.
The festival promises, Live performances from top Afrobeats and Fuji artistes Christmas discount sales Games, competitions, and raffle draws Children’s fun arcade Fashion shows celebrating Yoruba-inspired designs.
Faaji December is part of a broader strategy to make Ibadan a cultural rival to Lagos during the festive season while boosting tourism and economic activities in the state.
