The leadership of Accord Party at the weekend raised alarm over alleged plan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to organise an illegal/ parallel primary election in the name of the party, to cause disharmony and confusion among party members.
Meanwhile, the State APC spokesperson, Chief Kola Olabisi, described the claim as untrue saying,APC had concluded with its own governorship primary election and that, nothing concerns the party, with other political affairs.
But, Accord State Party Chairman,Pastor Victor Akande, who raised the alarm via a statement in Osogbo said, the defiant move is not only aimed at the Accord but is a clear danger to the peace and stability of Osun State.
“This latest gimmick is yet another ploy by APC, a party that seems to be in total disarray given the overwhelming acceptance, popularity, and goodwill that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke (Imole) seems to enjoy among the good people of Osun State, especially with his declaration and affiliation with the ACCORD.”
“Faced with the inability to rival the political momentum, support, and followership that Governor Adeleke commands, the APC has resorted to using clandestine means. One of which is sponsoring one of their own card-carrying members, Mr. Segun Alex Ayodele Fanibe, to pose as an aspirant of the ACCORD in a bid to create a crisis in our own party and the state at large.”
“To lay any ambiguity to rest, sufficient evidence is here cited to show that Mr. Fanibe is in no way affiliated with ACCORD. It is evident that he left ACCORD as far back as 2018. More glaring is the fact that he took an active role as a delegate in the recent concluded contentious APC governorship primary. This is sufficient to make any claim of affiliation with ACCORD null, void, and of no effect whatsoever.”
According to him, “The proposal to organise or parade any other primary as a rival one in the name of ACCORD is actually wrong, fraudulent, and provocative, revealing the type of politics engaged by the APC in Osun State: that is, politics of deceits, impersonation, among other things.”
“We remember that such efforts happened in the past, with the same aim: to divert the attention of effective leadership, confuse the voting public, and generate unnecessary heat. But history highlights that such schemes always end up falling apart before the power of truth.”
“As they continue to conceive these wicked plans, we are assured that God would continue to reveal such, as He did in the past. We urge the good people of Osun State to be mindful of such plans brought about by political parties who appear to lose touch with the desires of their people.”
“ACCORD is still a law-abiding, democratic, and peace-loving political party. This is to state that only the processes that are recognised by the appropriate national leadership of the party are valid. As such, any primary or aspirant who is outside of this is invalid, null, and void.”
“We urge the security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), among other relevant authorities, to be aware of this emerging plot aimed at disrupting public peace. Osun State has moved on. The people of the state have opted for peace, performance, and meaningful leadership. Nothing can impede the victory of the people at the altar of politics.”
However, APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi debunked the claim that, APC is planning to cause disunity among Accord party members.
He said the party is jittery of election because of APC popularity and acceptability in the state and that is why, they are accusing the party
