Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been officially installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Adeniran Owoade.
The chieftaincy installation ceremony took place earlier today, December 21, 2025, at the historic Alaafin’s Palace in Oyo, with dignitaries, monarchs, politicians, and youth leaders in attendance.
The title “Okanlomo” translates to “the distinguished child” and is traditionally bestowed on individuals perceived as role models for younger generations and contributors to Yoruba heritage and unity.
Seyi Tinubu, a prominent entrepreneur and youth advocate, was honoured for his influence in youth empowerment, tech investment, and philanthropy across Nigeria.
The Alaafin described the installation as symbolic, adding that it recognizes the positive contributions of a younger generation rising to leadership across Yorubaland.
This development comes amid ongoing conversations about generational transition and unity within the Yoruba socio-political landscape.
